Counselling for Friends & Family of People Experiencing Addiction

Seeing someone you love and care about experience addiction can feel confusing, frustrating, scary and heartbreaking.

Do you find yourself:

  • Spending significant time and energy worrying.
  • Giving excess financial support sometime beyond your means.
  • Monitoring someone’s substance use or addictive behaviour.
  • Generally trying to fix, change, or control.
  • Saying “This is the last time”….more than one time.
  • Feeling lied to.
  • Calling in sick or lying for someone else.
  • Making excuses.
  • Having your boundaries crossed.
  • Feeling taken advantage of.

For parents, partners and friends of individuals experiencing addiction, it might feel like you’re in a never-ending hurtful cycle.

Addiction affects more than the person experiencing it. Your healing is important too.
