Counselling Services
Support rooted in
empathy & trust
“If you are uncomfortable-in deep pain, angry, yearning,
confused-you don’t have a problem, you have a life.
Being human is not hard because
you’re doing it wrong, it’s hard because
you’re doing it right.”
-Glennon Doyle

My Values
Trust
I believe we all have
diverse & unique
experiences that
inform how we
perceive the world.
I'm looking forward to
learning about yours.
Our work together is
dependent on
your in me.
- I will do everything I
can to earn it.
Empathy
Providing a space free
of judgement allows
for the emotional
connection needed to
foster a therapeutic
relationship.
Sometimes being
present with
someone is all they
need. I believe
empathy is the
antidote for feeling
less alone.
I believe feeling a
sense of safety is a
basic need. Only
YOU can decide
what a “safe space”
looks and feels like.
I'm dedicated to
- this environment
with you as your
needs change &
evolve.
Safety
trust
co-creating
trust
I believe we don’t have to
remain stuck in the past to
utilize the clues it provides.
I believe in the power of
listening & the healing
potential from feeling seen,
heard, & embraced for exactly
who you are in this moment.
Frequently asked
questions
Do I take insurance?
All insurance providers are different. Please check with yours to see if my
designation (RPC-C-registered professional counsellor candidate) is covered. I do
not offer direct billing at this time.
What is the first step?
To begin, I speak with everyone for a brief 15-minute phone consultation to see if
we’re a good fit for each other. You can reach me by phone or email. Then, you’ll use
“Jane App” to create a profile. If you’re lacking tech skills, we’ll figure it out together.
What is the age of people I work with?
I work with anyone 18 and older.
Do I work with couples?
Yes.
Do I offer a slide scale?
Yes, when you book, there are 4 tiers to choose from based on your financial ability.
Until counselling is accessible for all, I do my best to make it more reasonable.
What is Tapping?
Tapping is a stress reduction tool that uses a tapping technique on various pressure
points on your face & body. You’ll learn how to tap on yourself as I guide you. Not
everyone wants to use this as part of their counselling. That’s ok. To learn more, you
can visit my mentor’s page here.
Is my session space accessible for people using
wheelchairs?
Unfortunately, it is not. I’m otherwise available by zoom or phone.
Can I diagnose or write prescriptions?
No, these are out of my scope of practice. I’ll do my best to point you in the right
direction.
I
My journey in the helping field began in
England. At 18, I volunteered at a
residential therapeutic school, housing
children & youth who’d experienced early
childhood trauma. Since then, I’ve worked
with various organizations in Kjipuktuk
(Halifax), such as Stepping Stone, The
YWCA, Adsum for Women & Children, &
Coverdale Courtwork Society. These
organizations serve women, trans & non-
binary individuals often unhoused,
experiencing trauma, addiction, mental
health challenges, sex trafficking,
incarceration & abuse.
My experience supporting recovery from
addiction comes from my current role as a
counsellor at Crosbie House, where we
practice an abstinence-based model.
However, I also support people with a
harm reduction model. I’m dedicated to
counselling with whatever modality feels
best for you.
In addition to my work in human services, I’m privileged to have worked & traveled
worldwide. I attribute some of my relatability & ability to connect with people to my
eclectic experiences-from pumping gas to working in the airline industry! I’ve
nannied, facilitated art programs, worked in American summer camps, spent over
10 years in the service industry & cooked for as many as 90 tree planters in bush
camps throughout Canada. A passionate supporter of parents, I also have my doula
& postpartum training. The commonality is my love for connecting by simply
conversing &, of course, humour!
